….at least that’s what it sounds like he’s saying.

I took a spin up to the mart in Carnaross a couple of weeks back to see what goes on. I don’t know how the dealers keep up with the auctioneer who is reeling off prices at a rate of knots. Trying to spot who was bidding was impossible. A raised eyebrow, a deft finger movement or some other secret signal that only the auctioneer could spot amongst the tightly packed hoards of men (there was the odd woman too) and the price went up another €50.

Scratching your nose here could be a costly exercise.

Lost and gone forever

We took a trip to the Holy Rosary Convent in Killeshandra, Co. Cavan last November. It’s an old abandoned convent and we spent quite a few hours exploring and photographing the interior.

Sadly it was demolished this week and our photos take on a new meaning now. In fact these are probably the last photographs taken there which highlights the importance of photographs, especially documentary type shots which hopefully will live on forever as a reminder of our past.

Another from our trip to that place we shouldn’t have been. Always a bit scary when you’re in an abandoned convent, engrossed in setting up your camera for a shot and the next thing you hear scratching on the door and a face appears out of nowhere!

The Painting

From our trip today to another of those places we weren’t supposed to be in!

Yet another abandoned convent with the roof caving in but with this painting still intact in the hall.

The ring

Spent a few hours in Carnaross mart tonight. It was their first sale this year and the place was packed with farmers making good prices on their cattle. Carnaross is one of the biggest marts in the country with sellers coming from all over Ireland and buyers from all over Europe. Some serious money changing hands tonight……….. what recession?

Another one from our kite-surfing trip to Bettystown. Kite-surfers have all sorts of fancy names for their tricks – Huge Floaty Jump, Board-Off or the Invert.

Coming through

Was it worth getting soaked to get this shot? For those of you who saw that shot of me standing in the Irish Sea with a camera in my hand and a wave crashing over my head, this is what I was at :-) I’ve come to the conclusion that sports photography is not my scene – it’s too dangerous!

Are we done yet?

When I came home from washing my camera in the sea, I spotted our local mobile dog grooming van in my neighbours driveway. Chris and Susan have this little King Charles called Pip and she get a regular going over by Jason Sheerin of dialadogwash.ie. What a great name for his business.

I asked Jason if he’d mind me taking a few shots and he said fire away. So I did.

This shot got Pic of the Day over on Pix.ie so win all round. Pip wasn’t really all that forlorn, she just took it all in her stride.
